More Than a Node.js Runtime
The journey to building an enterprise-grade Node.js runtime began more than a decade ago.
From the beginning, NodeSource has invested deeply in the Node.js ecosystem—not only by helping organizations run Node.js in production, but also by contributing to the open-source project itself. Over the years, our team has worked alongside the community to improve Node.js, enhance its performance, strengthen its security, and help developers build more reliable applications.
As we worked with engineering teams operating Node.js at scale, we recognized a recurring challenge: developers needed better visibility into what was happening inside their applications in production. Traditional monitoring tools could only provide part of the picture.
That challenge led us to build N|Solid Runtime—a fully compatible Node.js runtime with built-in observability capabilities designed for production environments.
In 2024, we made another important decision: to open-source N|Solid Runtime. By making the runtime freely available to the community, we wanted to give developers a better foundation for running Node.js while continuing to innovate in observability, diagnostics, and security.
Today, more than two million downloads later, we're excited to see that vision being adopted by developers and organizations around the world.
