NodeSource Introduces N|Solid Customized for Alpine Linux

Docker capabilities expanded with architected support of popular Linux distribution

**San Francisco – April 18, 2017 – **NodeSource, the Node.js company, today announced the release of NodeSource N|Solid for Alpine Linux, the newest addition to its enterprise-grade Node.js platform that enables a secure, reliable and extensible platform for Node.js applications. The latest release makes it easier for teams using Docker containers with the popular Alpine Linux distribution to leverage the enhanced security and performance visibility provided by N|Solid.

Alpine’s core advantages are its security-centric philosophy and comparatively lightweight footprint; its smaller size and enhanced resource efficiency are ideal for running in a containerized environment. NodeSource’s new distribution for Alpine makes the N|Solid commercial runtime’s security and performance monitoring capabilities available on a resource-efficient and secure OS.

NodeSource N|Solid is a commercial version of the Node.js runtime which offers enhanced security as well as real-time visibility into application performance. Along with the recently-introduced NodeSource Certified Modules, NodeSource provides enterprise-grade Node.js for production applications and helps development, DevOps and security teams run and scale Node.js applications, with confidence.

Node.js is one of the fastest-growing open source projects in the world, powering everything from web and desktop applications to microservices architectures, embedded IoT devices, and robotics. By adopting Node.js, organizations can drastically cut infrastructure costs and improve time-to-market, delivering better experiences to end users.

One major reason N|Solid is a preferred solution for enterprise teams is its extensibility. DevOps teams can easily trigger actions based on smart thresholds to automate error reporting. Real-time metrics provide valuable insights into the runtime state of Node.js applications and are easily integrated with StatsD, Datadog and other Application Performance Management (APM) systems. Explained Joe McCann, CEO of NodeSource, "IT managers appreciate the ability to significantly increase enterprises’ risk mitigation and compliance postures while increasing operational performance, as well as making development and deployment efforts easier and extremely reliable."

Open Source Now Means ‘Open for Business!’

Expanding the ease-of-use, extensibility and security of open source solutions is accelerating enterprise interest in putting more and more mission-critical capabilities on open source solutions. This enables the sharing of the wisdom of open source communities, including enhancements that can be easily integrated and trusted across multiple physical and virtual domains and with ecosystem partners adding their own value-added capabilities.

"With so many NodeSource customers deploying N|Solid for Alpine Linux and looking to make even more extensive use of Docker in running their businesses, it was important that we provide a customized solution that optimized their needs," said McCann. “With the availability of N|Solid for Alpine Linux, we are demonstrating to the market once again that the Node.js ecosystem is the best way to cement open source solutions as the preferred technologies for business today and in the future.”
