NodeSource Joins OpenJS Foundation Partner Program to Support Security for Users of Older Node.js Versions

Through the OpenJS Ecosystem Sustainability Program, NodeSource will help organizations using outdated and unsupported versions of Node.js stay secure as they plan their upgrades.

NodeSource and OpenJS Foundation

We’re excited to announce that NodeSource has joined the OpenJS Foundation’s Ecosystem Sustainability Program (ESP), a strategic partnership designed to sustain the health and reliability of the JavaScript ecosystem.

Through the ESP, NodeSource will help provide security support for organizations running older, unsupported versions of Node.js, giving teams more time and flexibility to transition to newer releases while maintaining a secure posture.

NodeSource, a long-standing contributor to the Node.js community, brings expertise in Node.js solutions, developer tooling, and enterprise adoption. By joining the Ecosystem Sustainability Program, NodeSource will play a direct role in fostering the long-term health, stability, and growth of OpenJS projects. Additionally, NodeSource will now be a gold member of the foundation.

“Joining the OpenJS Foundation’s Ecosystem Sustainability Program allows us to give back to the JavaScript community that powers so much of the web. We’re excited to help support the long-term growth and stability of these important projects,” said Adrian Estrada, CTO of NodeSource and OpenJS Foundation Board Member.

The OpenJS Foundation’s Ecosystem Sustainability Program is designed to support companies and organizations that contribute to the ecosystem in meaningful ways, helping ensure projects remain secure, reliable, and innovative. NodeSource’s participation highlights the importance of collaboration between companies and open source communities to maintain the vibrant, ever-growing world of JavaScript.

“We’re thrilled to welcome NodeSource to the Ecosystem Sustainability Program,” said Robin Bender Ginn, Executive Director of the OpenJS Foundation. “Their focus on helping users of older Node.js versions stay secure and supported addresses a real-world challenge for many organizations.” NodeSource’s involvement demonstrates the power of community-driven development and corporate participation in sustaining the open source projects that power the web. Together, the OpenJS Foundation and NodeSource are ensuring that JavaScript remains modern, reliable, and ready for the future.
